Transportation security screeners inspect baggage or cargo, and screen passengers for potentially dangerous objects, to help keep secure areas and aircraft safe.
Transportation Security Screeners
Tasks may include:
• asking passengers to remove their shoes and to take off metal objects before walking through metal detector
• checking passengers' tickets
• confiscating dangerous items and hazardous materials
• contacting supervisors to discuss any objects of concern
• contacting police as required
• deciding whether baggage that triggers alarms should be searched
• directing passengers to areas where they can pick up their baggage after screening
• communicating with other screeners and passengers.
