Consent to Assess and Programme Approval for New Zealand Diplomas

All providers who want to enrol students into the New Zealand Diploma in Aviation (Aeroplane and Helicopters) (Level 5 or 6) will need to have:

  1. Consent to Assess for all the mandatory and elective unit standards that are included in their programme of study
  2. An approved programme of study that meets the requirements of the qualification

You can get an approved programme of study by applying for Programme Approval, Programme Accreditation or Programme Change, depending on your approval stream:

  • Approval stream A - Providers who have existing NZQA approved programme/s that substantially match the requirements of the qualification or can meet the requirements of the qualification after some modification may apply for Programme Change. Click here for details
  • Approval stream B - Providers who have existing NZQA approved programmes but prefer to use the approved programme of another provider, who has given them permission to do so, may apply for Programme Accreditation. Click here for details
  • Approval stream C - Providers who need to develop some, or all, new content in order to meet the requirements of the qualification should apply for Programme Approval. Please contact NZQA's Service Support, Quality Assurance Division through http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/about-us/contact-us/course-approval/
  • Approval stream D - Providers that are not registered as a Private Training Establishment with NZQA must first apply for Registration, before Accreditation and/or Approval can be granted. Please contact NZQA's Service Support, Quality Assurance Division through http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/about-us/contact-us/course-approval/

For information on how to register as a PTE, please see NZQA's website.

It is expected that the majority of providers will fall within approval streams A and B.
