Moderation

ATTTO has a mandated role to perform national external moderation. External moderation is a quality check of all providers and workplaces assessing against ATTTO unit standards to ensure national consistency in assessment decisions.

We are committed to carrying out the principles outlined in Best Practice Principles for the Assessment of Unit Standards (NZQA, 2005) and Good Practice Moderation, which is supported by the Industry Training Federation (ITF), the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics Quality (ITPQ) and the New Zealand Association of Private Education Providers (NZAPEP).

Find out more about external moderation on NZQA’s website

Accreditation and Moderation Action Plans (AMAPs)

AMAPs identify specific criteria for accreditation and outline external moderation requirements. Each unit standard and achievement standard is assigned an AMAP which can be accessed on the NZQA website.

The current Tourism and Travel AMAP [Ref: 0078] is divided into two separate documents.

  • Specific Industry Requirements for accreditation
  • The ATTTO external moderation requirements.

Please note that the version of the Tourism and Travel AMAP registered on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework and available at www.nzqa.govt.nz contains external moderation requirements but does not include industry specific requirements.
