Meet the ATTTO External Moderators

“Our role is about ensuring that assessments are fair and valid, and consistent,” explains Elizabeth Parker, one of the three ATTTO External Moderators, alongside Graeme Cullimore and Gail Peters.
“We make sure that all the assessments written for ATTTO unit standards are of a consistent standard (pre-moderation), and that assessors are making consistent judgements about student or trainee competency (post-moderation).”
As well as quality assurance, Gail says a large part of the role is about providing support to customers. “We answer queries on everything from resources and assessment to moderation plans and accreditation; whatever our customers need,” she says.
The moderators also conduct support visits to schools and tertiary providers on a 3 year cycle, an aspect of the role that they enjoy.
“Visiting and interacting with customers is one of the things I like about being a moderator,” says Gail. “The variety of work is what I enjoy,” adds Lesley. “We are doing different things every day which is what keeps it really interesting,” she says.
