National Certificate in Tourism (Visitor Information) (Level 4)
The National Certificate in Tourism (Visitor Information) recognises the skills required to work in the visitor information services sector of the industry.
People awarded this qualification are able to provide a range of quality services to both international and domestic visitors within New Zealand. The compulsory unit standards in this qualification require candidates to have a sound understanding of the tourism industry and the ability to present information about New Zealand’s tourism regions as visitor destinations. The elective section of the qualification covers a range of services that are carried out in a visitor information centre including accessing and providing information needed by visitors, selling goods and services to visitors, managing visitor information records systems, documenting business transactions with visitors, ascertaining visitors’ information requirements, and using information resource materials to provide information to visitors. This qualification is designed for assessment in on-job situations.
This qualification builds on the National Certificate in Tourism and Travel (Core Skills) (Level 3).
