National Diploma in Aeronautical Maintenance Certification (Level 6)

With strands in Aeroplane, Rotorcraft, and Powerplant. This qualification is intended for people working towards the privileges of certifying the release to service of aircraft or their components following maintenance.

The core compulsory section of the qualification covers the topics required by candidates to gain the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Licence (issued under Part 66 of the Civil Aviation Rules 1990), which is a requirement to certify release to service following aircraft maintenance. It also covers the requirements for basic first aid and health and safety. Candidates are also required to achieve one of the strands in the area in which they specialise. The Aeroplane Strand also incorporates an optional standard, which may be required in some employment contexts, however this is not required to achieve award of this qualification.

While this qualification stands alone in terms of its relationship to the licensing requirements, candidates can progress through the National Certificate in Aircraft Servicing at level 2 and National Certificates in Aeronautical Engineering at level 4 to reach this qualification.
