Unit standard version: 2, 3

This manual has been developed to cover the following unit standard:

18215 - Demonstrate knowledge of and process domestic air travel

Level: 3, Credits: 8, Version 2

This manual is split into four sections:
• Terminology
• Knowledge of Domestic Airlines
• Establishing Passenger Requirements
• Completing Reservations.

Domestic Air Travel in New Zealand has gone through dramatic changes in the past four years. There are many options available for air transportation to most places, with the major cities linked by two or three
airlines.
The majority of tickets are now issued as Electronic Ticketing (ET or ETKT) where there is no actual flight coupon, rather a receipt that is sent electronically and can be printed by the passenger. The passenger just has to turn up to the airport with identifi cation to verify the booking. While some situations require a paper ticket to be issued, there are penalty fees if your passenger requests a paper ticket on an ET ticketable route.
