Common Unit Standard and Assessment Queries

Check this page for clarification on unit standard interpretations in assessment resources.

What is the difference between a 'version' and an 'edition'?

When changes are made to a unit standard, it gets an updated version number. A new CAT is then written against the US.

When changes are made to an existing ATTTO Assessment (to reflect industry changes or to update a map, for example), the edition number of the Assessment is changed. This is recorded in the footer of the document. For example the latest CAT for US24731 is Edition 2.

Please ensure you always download and use the latest edition Assessment, which is always the edition available on this site.

For example, some of the CATs in the National Certificate in Introductory Skills (Level 2) package were released with maps for teacher preparation only, and have since been updated with maps suitable for assessment. Teachers should use the latest edition CATs to ensure they have the most up to date maps.

PC.3

The ‘main transport centre’ referred to in PC 1.3 will vary depending on the form of transport being used to travel by land and the itinerary.

The special note covering this refers to the ‘transport centre’ as being the nearest 'international airport' or 'rail/coach junction' or 'port'.

For example, if the tourist destination is Mt Ruapehu and the client is travelling by hire car and departing directly home to the UK, the main transport centre would be Auckland International Airport.  If they were travelling by rail to somewhere else in NZ it may be the rail junction at National park.

For moderation purposes, the assessors professional judgement regarding the closest transport centre to the destination will be acceptable, providing the travel time by land from the destination to the transport centre is correct.
