National Certificate in Adventure Tourism (Level 4)

The National Certificate in Adventure Tourism (Level 4) recognises the skills required to prepare for and guide adventure tourism day trips with clients.

The holder of the qualification is able to provide first aid, prepare and deliver guided interpretation, and demonstrate knowledge of environmental awareness and the Quality Tourism Standards for adventure tourism. The qualification is intended for people training for a career, or currently employed, in the adventure tourism industry in New Zealand.

The elective section allows people to select those unit standards relevant to their particular industry and organisational requirements. Sector specific achievement can contribute to an industry award.

This qualification is designed to be delivered in conjunction with the National Certificate in Tourism and Travel (Core Skills) (Level 3), which provides the core skills to support the technical skills contained in this qualification. However, that qualification must be awarded prior to the award of this qualification. The National Certificate in Adventure Tourism (Level 4) may provide a pathway to diploma-level qualifications in tourism.
