Workplace training - benefits and responsibilities

With workplace training you can train towards national qualifications while continuing to do your job.

Benefits of workplace training

The benefits of on-the-job training include:

  • more motivation, confidence and sense of direction
  • achieving national qualifications recognised by employers here and overseas
  • cost effectiveness – you won’t need a student loan
  • increased skill level
  • improving your chances of promotion and better pay.

Your responsibilities

All trainees have a responsibility to work towards completing their chosen qualification. We will provide coaching and support where appropriate.

How workplace training works

You sign a training agreement with your employer, which is linked to your employment contract. If you’re a volunteer or are a self-employed contractor, you can also sign training agreements under certain circumstances.
