This manual will assist trainees to examine and demonstrate karakia Maori appropriately in a tourism context. It explains the structure and content of karakia tawhito, the structure and content of contemporary karakia, and appropriate karakia to be used in a tourism context.

This manual was developed to cover the unit standard 17784 - Explain and demonstrate karakia appropriate in a tourism context.
 
The manual supports trainees in the workplace who are working towards the National Certificate in Tourism Maori (Level 3).

This manual may be purchased individually, or as part of the Tourism Maori manual package which includes 8 manuals for $90.

The manual is broken into three sections and will assist the trainee to examine the structure and content of both karakia tawhito (traditional karakia) as well as contemporary karakia. This will will enable the trainee to better identify the appropriate karakia for the appropriate context. The trainee will also be provided with karakia for use in the appropriate tourism context.
