This manual assists the trainee to understand the importance of respecting Māori customs and practices in a tourism context

This manual was developed to cover the unit standard 17786 - Explain the importance of respecting Maori customs and practices in a tourism context.
 
The manual supports trainees in the workplace who are working towards the National Certificate in Tourism Maori (Level 3).

This manual may be purchased individually, or as part of the Tourism Maori manual package which includes 8 manuals for $90.

The manual looks at examples of Māori customs and practices such as Rāhui, Muru and Utu. Examples of these customs and practices will be followed by activities that will ask how these are related to tourism, how they may be relevant to Māori, and the importance of respecting these customs and practices in a tourism context.

It is important to know that these customs and practices and a part of a much larger conceptual network that interlinks other such large concepts like Kaitiakitanga, Manaakitanga and Whānau.
