This manual provides the trainee with a basic understanding of kaitiaki and the practice of kaitiakitanga.

This manual was developed to cover the unit standard 17791 - Explain the relevance of kaitiaki practices in a tourism context
 
The manual supports trainees in the workplace who are working towards the National Certificate in Tourism Maori (Level 3).

This manual may be purchased individually, or as part of the Tourism Maori manual package which includes 8 manuals for $90.

While the unit standard for which this section has been developed to support refers to kaitiaki practices in a tourism context, it is important for the trainee to understand this concept in a more general context before applying it specifically to the tourism industry.

This manual will therefore provide the trainee with a basic understanding of kaitiaki and kaitiaki practices from which they will then be able to form views on how kaitiaki practices can then be applied specifically to the tourism industry.
