Originally developed as a supplementary resource for US 24729 Demonstrate knowledge of world tourist destinations, the board game can now be purchased as a stand-alone game, complete with hard cover, durable packaging – an excellent solution for tourism teachers looking to purchase extra copies of the game, or for teachers to use in other relevant subjects.  

The Awesome Race game is designed to help students learn about regions, countries, gateway cities, tourism markets, activities, attractions and events in an interactive and fun way, using their research skills and knowledge.

Aim of the game

The aim of the game is for students to travel around the world and test their knowledge on the regions and countries they pass through. Those who answer questions correctly then collect those countries. The winner is the first person to collect 2 countries from each region (a total of 10 countries in all).

The game boards

The game is provided on four boards covering five regions; The Americas, Africa, Asia/Pacific, Europe, and The Middle East. Africa and The Middle East are placed on the same board.
The ‘regional’ boards also fit together to create a ‘world’ game.

The game cards

Question cards are provided for each region to get students used to the game. Blank cards are also provided so that students can create questions themselves once they have done some research.
By creating cards themselves, they can share the research they have done with others and in the process learn as much as they can about world tourism.
