Unit Standard Version Numbers
Find out which version number you should be using
When a unit standard is developed this is version 1. The old style layout unit standards did not show version 1 anywhere on the unit standard, the new style unit standards now show this in the top right hand corner.
When anything at all changes with a unit standard (if it is revised, reviewed or the status changes to expiring) NZQA change the version number. This has been creating a bit of confusion in regards to which version number people should be using.
Hopefully the information below will help clarify this.
When a unit standard is reviewed or revised the version number changes. For example: unit standard 18237 was reviewed.
- Version 1 of unit standard 18237 was Perform calculations for the tourism and travel industry (Level 2, 2 Credits)
- Version 2 of unit standard 18237 is Perform calculations for a tourism workplace (Level 2, 3 Credits)
*Please continue to use 18237 version 1 as the ATTTO resource and CAT have been developed against version 1. Resources for version 2 are under development.
When an existing unit standard is replaced by a new unit standard, NZQA change the status of the existing unit standard to 'expiring' and they also change the version number (even though nothing has changed in the existing unit standard). For example: unit standard 18231 was replaced by unit standard 24728.
- Unit standard 18231 (Identify work roles in tourism and their related personal requirements) was version 1 however when it was replaced by unit standard 24728 NZQA changed the status of 18231 to 'expiring' and the version number changed to version 2 (even though nothing has changed in unit standard 18231).
*Unit standard 18231 is able to be used until its expiry date of December 2010, there is an ATTTO resource and CAT available for this unit standard. Resources for 24728 are under development.
It is the same when a unit standard is reviewed and not replaced. For example: unit standard 18233.
- Unit standard 18233 (Communicate with one person in English for the tourism and travel industry) is not being replaced and has been reviewed out. NZQA have changed the status of 18233 to 'expiring' and the version number changed to version 2 (even though nothing has changed in the unit standard).
*Unit standard 18233 is able to be used until its expiry date of December 2010, there is an ATTTO resource and CAT available for this unit standard.
