Travel Gateway

Travel Gateway

The Travel Gateway programme gives secondary school students a unique chance to gain work experience in a travel industry workplace and gain the basic travel knowledge that will help them kick-start their future careers.

The programme has been designed to make it as convenient as possible for busy travel professionals to mentor Gateway students. Much of the programme can be completed online, through an innovative web-based training resource. Travel agency mentors should provide support and be available to answer questions.

This resource pack covers basic knowledge of Australia as a tourism destination, how to identify and access travel and product information, and how to communicate effectively in a variety of travel and tourism workplace situations.

The package includes:

  • Access to the Passport to the World Destination Australia online learning resource

  • Student logbook
  • A sample travel wallet for travel documents
